Company Values

Alexandria Art Therapy, LLC was founded with the mission to make art therapy accessible as a primary mode of mental health treatment.

We value collaboration, creativity, connection, integrity, equality, and growth. We prioritize continuing education to practice empathically through a trauma-informed lens.

We believe that access to mental healthcare is a human right.

In order to fight against stigma related to mental health treatment and create access to mental healthcare, we must first stand up, speak up, and take action against systemic oppression— including racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, sizeism, ageism, and oppression based on economic, social, political, spiritual, religious, or cultural beliefs and practices.

We are committed to doing our own work – exploring biases that can impact our work (and will impact our work if we don’t engage in this process) and facilitating open communication rooted in honesty, integrity, and equity.

We donate to organizations that align with our values including:

The Trevor Project, a national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25;

BEAM: Black Emotional and Mental Health Collection, a training, movement building, and grant making organization dedicated to the healing, wellness, and liberation of Black and marginalized communities;

Perinatal Mental Health Alliance for People of Color, a program within Postpartum Support International geared towards building capacity in the perinatal mental health field to better support families and providers of color around perinatal mood and anxiety disorder;

Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a LGBTQ+ advocacy group that strives to end discrimination against LGBTQ people and realize a world that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all. HRC envisions a world where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people are ensured equality and embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community;

and American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), that works in the courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to all people in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States.
