Neurodiverse-affirming Couples Therapy

Whether one or both of you are diagnosed with ADHD or Autism (including self-diagnosis), working with a neurodiverse-affirming couples therapist can be essential for building a healthier relationship. Adele Stuckey, LPC, ATR-BC helps couples develop accommodations, relationship routines, and more aligned communication with attention to both partner’s neurotype.

If you’ve felt stuck in your relationship or can’t understand why communication issues continue to occur, neurodiverse-affirming couples therapy may be a good fit for you.

 Perinatal Couples Therapy

Adele Stuckey, ATR-BC, LPC specializes in helping couples through fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum needs. Perinatal experiences can create high amounts of stress, causing relationship conflict, disconnection, and ruptures in trust. Perinatal couples therapy can help you and your partner strengthen your relationship while navigating new territory and growing your family.

Navigating the perinatal period as a queer couple presents additional stress factors. Adele works with individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community who are experiencing stress related to the birthing and parenting process.

 frequently asked questions

Is couples therapy covered by insurance?

We cannot guarantee reimbursement for services. Services may be covered by insurance when provided by specific clinicians at the practice. Please consult with our administrative staff or your clinician to determine if services are in-network.

How long do you recommend we participate in couples therapy?

The short answer is that it depends on your needs. Some couples participate in therapy to work through a specific issue and short term or brief therapy may be helpful. Others choose to use regularly scheduled therapy as a space to discuss ongoing needs and communication issues or to devote time to the relationship on a regular basis.

Do we need an individual therapist too?

Couples therapy is helpful when the individuals in the relationship are also working on themselves and have a space to share their experiences without filtering for their partner. So, we recommend individual therapy for each member of the relationship.

Do you work with polyamorous individuals?

Yes and we may refer to clinicians outside of our practice who specialize in working with polyamorous individuals. If you would like to work with a clinican here at AAT, we can discuss your needs to help determine if we may be a good fit.

Are you LGBTQIA+ friendly?

Absolutely. This is a safe space for all individuals.

Are you neurodiverse-affirming? Do you work with autistic people or those who have ADHD?

Yes, Adele is a neurodiverse-affirming therapist with specialized training in ASD, ADHD, HSP, and neurodiversity.
