One of my favorite forms to use for making art is an Altered Book. An altered book uses the pages of an unused book as the canvas for images. Because I value and respect books, I only use old or "damaged" books to alter. Go to http://www.booksalefinder.com to find nearby library sales. Most book sales feature items that are "damaged out" by the library due to mild wear and tear, a bit of water damage, or overstock.
Prepping your book using the techniques below will help maintain the structure of the book spine that holds the pages together. I begin all altered books by carefully removing up to 50% of the pages and gluing several pages together to form a sturdy canvas for my art.Read More
